The ex-British Telecom Phone Box, is sited at Baveney Crossroads.
Since it’s decommissioning by BT, ownership has passed to the Parish Council. Clerk Peter Martin has added the box to our street furniture insurance schedule.
We are delighted that the Neen Savage Women’s Institute have approached the Council with a view to making more of this piece of our iconic rural architecture, designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott.
Initial improvement work, such as making good the old phone fixing plate, replacing broken glass and generally tidying the area around the kiosk will be carried out by Martin Windridge.
In advance of this the Council have discovered that the paintwork could contain lead and therefore the paint refurbishment is in the process of being out-sourced in order to comply to Risk Assessment and Method Statement requirements.
